Rodong Sinmun Accuses US of Pulling up DPRK over "Religious Issue"

Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Department of State recently in its "Annual Report on International Religious Freedom" for 2010 pulled up almost all the countries of the world over religious freedom and again designated eight countries including the DPRK, China and Iran as "countries of special concern". Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes in a signed commentary in this regard: The U.S. dared groundlessly pull up the DPRK over its "religious issue" though its believers lead a free pious life. This is a grave politically motivated provocation to the DPRK and undisguised pressure upon it. It is none other than the U.S. which should be regarded as the real country of special concern for its problem of religious freedom, the commentary says, and goes on: The U.S. reactionary ruling quarters take issue with the religious view and faith, which criticize or refuse to apply the decadent American way of life, and persecute, arrest and even kill those believers who are displeased with the reactionary politics. The U.S. also suppresses and kills religionists of different countries at random. The U.S. persistently talks about "religious issue" of other countries not because it is interested in the religious life and activities of believers. By pulling up other countries over what it calls "religious issue" the U.S. seeks sinister aims to escape the anti-U.S. holy war of the Islamic world and justify its brazen-faced interference in the internal affairs of other countries, those countries which incur its displeasure, in particular, and infringement upon their sovereignties. However, the U.S. can never hide its true colors as a heinous violator of religion. It would be well advised to stop ridiculously behaving as if it were "a judge of religion" and appear in the dock of the religious court of its own accord. |
