Kim Jong Il Enjoys Performance Given by State Symphony Orchestra

Pyongyang, November 28 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il enjoyed a performance given by the State Symphony Orchestra. Put on the stage were serial symphonies "Song Dedicated to the Party," piano concerto "Do Prosper, My Country," orchestras "A Bumper Harvest in the Chongsan Plain" and "A Soldier Hears Rice Ears Sway" and other colorful numbers. Through the performance the instrumentalists enthusiastically praised the immortal revolutionary feats Kim Jong Il has performed by bringing a great heyday of prosperity to this land under his indefatigable dynamic guidance and successfully represented the steadfast faith and will of the army and people of the DPRK to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche without fail, remaining single-mindedly loyal to him. As the performance was over, Kim Jong Il waved back to the enthusiastically cheering performers and audience and congratulated the artistes on their successful presentation. Noting that "Song Dedicated to the Party" which was arranged and conducted by People's Artist Jang Ryong Sik, chief conductor of the State Symphony Orchestra, is another masterpiece representing the era of Songun, he highly praised the creating staff for having created the splendid work impressively making a great epic depiction of the glorious history of the WPK and extended thanks to them. Noting that the creating staff including the conductor created the above-said serial symphonies to suit the national emotion and sentiment by displaying high caliber and powerfully demonstrated the greatness of the elegant and exquisite Korean music by peculiar conducting skill, in particular, he called on all the creators and artistes to learn from their sincere and enthusiastic work style and attitude of making a positive contribution to the creation and depiction of the masterpiece of the era which is loved by the Korean people and conducive to the revolution. Music should satisfactorily meet the cultural and emotional requirements of the people by representing their noble spiritual world with beautiful and rich art representation as it is humanics, he said, advancing highly important tasks which would serve as guidelines for further developing the Juche-based symphony. Underlining the need to represent the spiritual world of the people which grows nobler with the era with beautiful and rich artistic depiction and thus satisfactorily meet their cultural and emotional needs, he expressed the expectation and belief that the creators and artistes of the State Symphony Orchestra would put the level of creation and arrangement on a higher stage, further enhance the rendition skill and thus become true creators and firm defenders of the socialist culture and art. Among the audience were Ri Yong Ho, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK, vice-chairman of the Party Central Military Commission and chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, Kim Jong Un, vice-chairman of the Party Central Military Commission, Kim Ki Nam, Choe Thae Bok and Hong Sok Hyong, members of the Political Bureau and secretaries of the C.C., the WPK, Kim Kyong Hui, member of the Political Bureau and department director of the C.C., the WPK, Kang Sok Ju, member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK and vice-premier of the Cabinet, Jang Song Thaek, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK and vice-chairman of the NDC, Kim Yang Gon, Choe Ryong Hae, Thae Jong Su and Kim Phyong Hae, alternate members of the Political Bureau and secretaries of the C.C., the WPK, Mun Kyong Dok, alternate member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK and chief secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK, and leading officials of the party and the army. |
