He recalled that since its formation Pomminryon has worked hard to realize strong solidarity among the south, the north and overseas sides and achieve national independence and reunification.

Visits, contacts, cooperation and exchange had been brisk between the south and the north since the adoption of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration but the emergence of the Lee Myung Bak regime threw a stumbling block in the way of the reunification movement, he noted.

Pointing out that the South Headquarters of Pomminryon has waged a strenuous struggle to pull down the barrier of division, drive foreign forces out of south Korea and achieve the great unity of the nation despite the authorities' brutal suppression, he declared that the South Headquarters would as ever wage a dynamic struggle to open up a landmark phase in the June 15 era of independent reunification.
