Pyongyang, December 1 (KCNA) -- One May day in Juche 53 (1964) President Kim Il Sung had a conversation with agricultural researchers on an experimental field belonging to his residence. Growing on the field were leaf-heavy plants rare to be seen in the spring season. They were being cultivated experimentally by the President for feed. When the President asked them whether they knew the plant, one of them answered it was common burdock. The President said that he was right and that during the anti-Japanese armed struggle, the revolutionary fighters ate roots of common burdock, calling it Mt. Paektu broad bellflower. He also said that, planted on the experimental field in spring, they were already leaved out, growing so heavy. He then picked up a plant to weigh it. Seeing it weighing 3kg, he said one hectare would produce 100 tons and asked one of the researchers to feed pigs on the plant and check its value. |
