Attending it were members of the south Korean Committee for Promoting the Commemorations of the 20th Anniversary of the Formation of Pomminryon and delegates of the Headquarters of Koreans in the U.S. and the European Regional Headquarters of Pomminryon.

A message of solidarity from the North Headquarters of Pomminryon was introduced at the meeting. Then followed speeches.

Speakers said that the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration clarify the idea, spirit and tasks of Pomminryon, stressing the need to preserve and implement the inter-Korean declarations in the future, too.

They called for making positive efforts to realize visits, contacts and multi-faceted dialogue and cooperation between the south and the north, oppose confrontation and war moves of the anti-reunification forces through solidarity and alliance with all the pro-reunification patriotic forces at home and abroad and achieve peace.

They noted that the reality today when the situation on the Korean Peninsula has reached the brink of an all-out war due to the moves of the Lee Myung Bak regime to escalate the confrontation requires all the forces aspiring after independence, democracy and reunification to wage a more dynamic movement for reunification.

They declared that they would check and frustrate the anti-reunification moves of the conservative forces through the unity of the progressive camp and the alliance of the forces supporting the June 15 joint declaration and make a positive contribution to achieving the democracy of the society and national reunification.
