The Communist Party and people of Vietnam are convinced that the Korean people will achieve greater success in building a great prosperous and powerful socialist nation under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il, the chairman said on the occasion.

He noted that the traditional relations of friendship between the two countries provided by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Il Sung are growing stronger as the days go by under the deep care of General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

The Communist Party and people of Vietnam always remember the unstinted assistance and encouragement rendered by the Korean people to the Vietnamese people in the period of their anti-U.S. national-salvation struggle, he said, hoping that exchange and cooperation between the two parties would be further expanded.
