US Secretary of State's Outbursts Dismissed
|

Pyongyang, December 14 (KCNA) -- The U.S. secretary of State was recently reported to have asserted that an arms race would be sparked off within the year due to the nuclear program of the DPRK. Rodong Sinmun Tuesday observes in a signed commentary in this regard: It is the inviolable sovereign right of every country of the world to conduct nuclear activities for peaceful purposes. It is nonsensical for the U.S. secretary of State to talk about the DPRK's "nuclear program" and "sparking off an arms race" and the like. The commentary goes on: If she were to mention the issues of nuclear program and the start of an arms race worldwide from a fair stand, she should have taken issue with the arms buildup and development of nukes by the U.S. and its followers, to begin with. The danger of a new arms race is increasing on the international arena at present entirely because of the U.S. policy of hegemony and strength. The U.S. is frantically pushing forward development, production and deployment of new type modern weapons to realize its ambition for world domination on the basis of upperhand of strength. The smear campaign stepped up by the U.S. against the DPRK over its nuclear activities for peaceful purposes is nothing but a crafty artifice to build public opinion critical of the nuclear program of the DPRK in a bid to shift the blame for the former's criminal acts of sparking off and escalating the arms race and creating the danger of a nuclear war onto others. The U.S. authorities' outcry over the start of arms race due to the nuclear program of the DPRK is no more than sheer sophism let loose by those feeling guilty. If the U.S. undisguisedly keeps to the road of bolstering nuclear forces, building missile shields and stepping up its moves for a war, this will throw the world deep into a whirlwind of new arms race. With no honeyed words can the U.S. cover up its true colors as a chieftain of arms race and an arch criminal disturbing world peace and stability. |
