S. Korea's Policy of Confrontation with DPRK Blasted

Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- The tense situation prevailing on the Korean Peninsula is not attributable to any accidental incident but a natural product of the south Korean conservative authorities' policy of confrontation with the DPRK, observes Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a signed article. The article goes on: The south Korean authorities put up the watchword "no nukes, opening and 3000 dollars" contrary to the June 15 era of reunification as their "policy towards the north". This triggered off the tension prevailing on the peninsula. The south Korean conservative forces regarded the progress made in the June 15 era of reunification as a thorn in their eyes. That was why no sooner had they come to power than they advocated the above-said watchword in a desperate bid to regain the "lost decade." The undesirable "policy towards the north" adopted by the south Koran authorities betrayed their sinister design to stand in confrontation with compatriots and ignite a war of aggression against the DPRK, far from having dialogue and cooperation with fellow countrymen. The policy is the root cause of derailing the dialogue and cooperation between the north and the south and escalating the military tension. It is a prerequisite for defusing the distrust and confrontation between the north and the south and seeking a peaceful settlement of the issue of national reunification to reenergize the inter-Korean dialogue and cooperation. The conservative authorities' reckless acts against reunification, however, totally suspended the dialogue and cooperation. The ever-deepening distrust and misunderstanding between the north and the south are bound to lead to military clashes. Branding the south Korean authorities' policy of confrontation with the DPRK as a dangerous one for a war of aggression against the latter, the article stresses: If tension is to be defused on the Korean Peninsula and peace to be ensured there, it is necessary, first of all, to put an end to the moves for a war of aggression against the DPRK in south Korea. Peace will never settle on the peninsula unless the military provocations of the south Korean authorities against the DPRK are halted. The south Korean authorities should roll back their treacherous "policy towards the north" at once as they bring the dark clouds of nuclear war to hang over the peninsula, blocking the progress of the June 15 era of reunification. |
