The speakers at the meeting accused the authorities of sharply increasing the defense budget as compared with that last year under the pretext of the tense situation and escalating the military confrontation with the north, vociferating about the "right to self-defense" and the like.

The Yonphyong Island incident was mainly attributable to the lack of a safe zone in the West Sea of Korea, they held, adding that had the authorities thoroughly implemented the October 4 declaration which calls for establishing a special zone of peace and cooperation in the West Sea, such incident would not have occurred.

They clarified their will to carry on their positive actions urging the authorities to take fundamental measures to avert a war and ensure peace.
