Modern apartment blocks have appeared on the banks of the River Taedong, at the foot of Haebang Hill and other places in the capital city of Pyongyang.

Several thousand houses have been built in Ryongrim and Tongsin counties and Huichon City, Jagang Province.

In North Hwanghae Province many houses were constructed for peasants of the Migok Cooperative Farm in Sariwon City and the Sokjong and Samjong cooperative farms in Hwangju County and for hundreds of discharged soldiers who began working with the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex.

Lots of new houses have also been constructed in North and South Phyongan, Kangwon, South Hamgyong and South Hwanghae provinces.
