They said that Kim Jong Il's gaining of the supreme commandership of the KPA marked a historic event of weighty significance in developing the KPA and accomplishing the Juche cause.

They stressed that having Kim Jong Il at the top post of the revolutionary armed forces made it possible for the DPRK to give steady continuity to the glorious history and tradition of the Korean revolution which started and emerged victorious with arms for independence and steadily advance the socialist cause.

An art performance was given by the Workers' Art Squad of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea and a concert by members of the Democratic Women's Union of Korea to vow loyalty on the same day to commemorate the anniversaries.
