Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Huichon Youth Electrical Complex and the construction site of the Huichon Power Station. The first leg of his guidance was the Huichon Youth Electrical Complex. He looked round production processes and saw newly-made electrical products to learn in detail about production there. He expressed great satisfaction that the workers of the complex have modernized and scientized its production processes on the basis of cutting-edge technology in a short span of time and actively developed new technology, thus bringing about a signal turn in the production of electrical products. He highly praised the officials, workers and technicians of the complex for their admirable feats, noting that it is a signal success that they produced latest type electrical goods in a brief span of time by their own efforts and with their own technology in hearty response to the Party's slogan calling for pushing back the frontiers of science and technology on all the fronts and advancing faster to attain higher goals. He advanced the important tasks to be carried out by the complex to keep the production going at a high rate. The next leg of his guidance was the dam construction site at Huichon Power Station No. 2. Being briefed on the construction at its final stage before a map showing a panoramic view of the power station, he climbed the dam towering high between mountains. He walked round the construction site to learn in detail about the project. Making the rounds of construction sites alive with a high-pitched labor drive, he was greatly pleased with the rapid progress made in the project. The devoted drive of the builders of the power station including soldier-builders who created the Huichon speed, a new Chollima speed, opened a bright prospect for finishing the huge construction before 2012, he said, extending warm salute to all the soldier builders working hard in the revolutionary soldier spirit and the spirit of fortitude. Thanks to the heroic struggle of the soldier builders, the power station will be completed before long, causing a large man-made lake to appear, he said, once again earnestly calling on them to make a courageous last charge to bring earlier the day of completion. Appreciating pencil drawings and other literary and art pieces created by soldier-builders in the stirring construction site, he heard beautiful stories about them. He indicated important tasks to serve as guidelines for completing the power station earlier than scheduled. In order to meet rapidly growing demand for electricity, it is necessary to increase power production and, at the same time, build more power stations in different parts of the country, he said, adding that it is of particularly weighty importance to finish the above-said power station with high capacity in a short span of time. He underscored the need to wage a great offensive by mobilizing the whole party and army and all the people in order to wind up the construction of the power station before the centenary of birth of President Kim Il Sung. He stressed the need to pay particular attention to providing the builders with good living conditions including lodging so that they may not feel any slightest inconvenience. He was accompanied by Kim Jong Un, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, Kim Kyong Hui, member of the Political Bureau and department director of the C.C., the WPK, Jang Song Thaek, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK and vice-chairman of the NDC, Pak To Chun, Choe Ryong Hae, Thae Jong Su, and Kim Phyong Hae, alternate members of the Political Bureau and secretaries of the C.C., the WPK, and Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su, department directors of the NDC. |
