Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- Meetings, seminars and film shows took place in Bangladesh, Poland, Russia, Egypt and India between Dec. 15 and 18. It was to celebrate the 19th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's gaining of the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army and the 93rd birth anniversary of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk. Films shown included "Mt. Chilbo". Kim Jong Il's gaining of the supreme commandership of the KPA helped the army and people of the DPRK frustrate the ambition of the U.S. for world domination and firmly defend the sovereignty of the country, said Garib Newaz, president of the Bangladesh People's League. He expressed belief that as desired by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Suk, the Korean people would build a great prosperous and powerful socialist nation and surely achieve the reunification of the country under the Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il. Holding Kim Jong Il in high esteem as supreme commander of the KPA marked a special event in strengthening the KPA and ensuring peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia, said the chairman of the Egyptian Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea. Recalling that Kim Jong Suk took part in the anti-Japanese armed struggle for the liberation of the country in her early years and devotedly defended Kim Il Sung, he noted that she was an excellent woman revolutionary intensely loyal to the President. A message of greetings to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting in Poland. |
