The lecturer briefed the participants on the successes made by the Korean people this year in the efforts to build a thriving nation and on the situation that grew extremely tense on the peninsula due to the "Cheonan" warship case and the Yonphyong Island shelling incident.

Victor Oliva Miguel, general secretary of the Revolutionary Socialist Party of Peru, said his party, as a signatory to the Pyongyang Declaration, would invariably stand firm by the Workers' Party of Korea and the Korean people in their struggle to defend socialism and reunify the country.

The struggle of the WPK and the Korean people is instilling confidence, courage and hope into the RSPP in its efforts to build socialism in Peru, he said, adding the DPRK serves as a beacon of hope for the world progressive people.

He said that the Songun politics of General Secretary Kim Jong Il is the most just political mode which helps defend the sovereignty of the country, adhere to the principle of independence in the political, economic, military and all other fields and speed up the construction of a thriving nation.

The DPRK imbues all the progressive people with pride, drawing the biggest global attention, he noted.
