The division is honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment.

He climbed an observation deck to watch tank crews' training.

He expressed great satisfaction with them who have grown up to be a match-for-a hundred fighters fully prepared politically and ideologically and in military technique to defend the socialist homeland.

He set forth tasks for increasing the combat capability of the unit.

The unit soldiers are exceptionally enthusiastic in their training, he noted, calling for fully preparing all its soldiers as a-match-for-a hundred fighters possessed of high military qualifications and combat ability. To this end he underscored the need to give play to the revolutionary style training of conducting intensive training under the simulated conditions of an actual battle under the slogan "Training Is Also a Battle!"

The division, which played a pedigree role in strengthening the tank forces of the DPRK, is a vanguard unit both in battles and the ideological field, he said. He expressed great expectation and conviction that the division would carry forward this glorious tradition and exalt its honor as a vanguard unit.

He had a photo session with the soldiers who took part in the training.

Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, then inspected a company under the division.

He went round an education room, a bedroom, a wash-cum-bath house and other cultural, educational and supply service facilities to take deep care of the soldiers living and service.

He learned about every detail of their living ranging from the use of educational and entertainment means, temperature in the bedroom and water supply in wash-cum-bath house.

Very pleased to see soldiers leading a happy life in warm bedroom and an education room which has all educational and entertainment means in winter, he praised its commanding officers for having worked hard to provide soldiers with better living conditions.

It is an important work for increasing combat capability to provide soldiers with good living conditions, he said, calling on the commanding officers to always pay deep attention to supply service.

He called on the soldiers to always keep themselves combat-ready and steadily increase the combat capability to greatly contribute to the prosperity of the country.

Accompanying him were Chief of the KPA General Staff Ri Yong Ho who is member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, Jang Song Thaek, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and vice-chairman of the NDC, Pak To Chun, alternate member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Ju Kyu Chang, alternate member of the Political Bureau and department director of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Kyong Ok, Kim Won Hong and Kim Myong Guk who are members of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su, department directors of the NDC.
