Korean People Inspired by Joint New Year Editorial
Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- The Korean people are greatly inspired by the joint New Year editorial.

Han Chong Su, 54, a department director of the Ministry of Light Industry, told KCNA he was excited to read the joint editorial.

"The key target of this year is light industry. All the officials of the ministry will concentrate efforts on carrying out the Workers' Party of Korea's strategy for improving people's living standard," he said.

Kim Chang Sok, 56, a department director of the Ministry of Coal Industry, said they would increase coal production in response to the WPK's call for effecting a great surge in the same spirit and working manner as those of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex.

They would develop new coal fields with main emphasis on mines of large deposit and good conditions to ensure timely supply to several sectors of the national economy and thus contribute to developing economy and improving people's living standard, he added.

Sim Sang Chol, 48, head of a workshop of the Pyongyang Thermal-power Plant, said workers of the plant are full of revolutionary enthusiasm to increase production and demonstrate the spirit and might of Songun Korea dashing toward a thriving nation.

He said they would steadily introduce the latest science and technology to increase production and thus utilize power generators to the maximum and set new records by dint of science and technology.

Kim Pyong O, a department director of the Ministry of Light Industry, said they would produce popular and quality light industrial goods of international competitiveness and increase the variety of mass consumption goods to meet people's demand and taste true to the joint editorial.
