New Year Editorial Reiterates DPRK's Will for Denuclearization

Pyongyang, January 4 (KCNA) -- The DPRK is consistent in its stand and will to achieve peace in Northeast Asia and the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. This position of the DPRK was manifested by the joint editorial issued by its leading newspapers on the occasion of the New Year.

What happened in the world last year shows that the imperialists' high-handedness and arbitrariness can no longer work and that nothing can check the trend of the present times towards independence.

The Songun (military-first) politics pursued by the DPRK to ensure peace in the Korean peninsula and the rest of Asia reflects the progressive people's desire to build a new world, independent and peaceful.

The DPRK's powerful war deterrent has successfully frustrated the imperialists' attempt to dominate the world by dint of nuclear weapons. It is also a token of the Korean people's strong will to make the peninsula free from nuclear weapons.
