Indigenous Microbial Fertilizer in Wide Use
Pyongyang, January 14 (KCNA) -- The microbial fertilizer developed by scientists of the Microbiological Institute under the State Academy of Sciences is proving its efficacy in agricultural production in various cities and counties of South Hwanghae Province, South Phyongan Province and North Hamgyong Province.

It is now in wide use at cooperative farms in Yomju County, North Phyongan Province.

This fertilizer is good for keeping cultivated land from being acidified as it helps plants absorb insoluble phosphate.

The application of the fertilizer helps keep phosphatic fertilizer effective for a long period, increase the utility rate of nitrogenous fertilizer and prevent the decay of roots of rice plants in mud fields.

Now that the area of the paddy fields where rice is cultivated with the help of mud snails is on the steady increase, the application of that fertilizer to those fields is helpful to the growth of mud snails and the boost of the yield.

The fertilizer is now popular among many farms as it can be produced with ease by use of excrements of chickens, ducks and pigs.
