The book compiled by researchers of the Institute for Protection of Crops under the Academy of Agricultural Science edits photos and drawings showing the shapes and organism of harmful insects of 224 species. It gives a detailed description of the morphological characteristics of each species and its habit, prey, world distribution, its use and zoological name, etc.

Among them are 78 species of insects the usage of which is newly clarified though they had been regarded as insects harmful to crops.

The book deals in detail with the methods of using those insects which prove effective in the agricultural production at present.
