US Urged to Make Switchover to Dialogue and Fence Mending

Pyongyang, January 19 (KCNA) -- If the confrontation forces are to avoid a war and ensure co-existence, co-prosperity and common interests, they should pay primary attention to peace and seek ways of ensuring it, said Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a bylined article. It is an important requirement for ensuring peace at present to attach importance to dialogue and negotiations and strive to mend fences, the article noted, and went on: If dialogue and negotiations are to make smooth progress, there should be will to improve the relations. Last year the United States more zealously pursued confrontation and war on the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia than dialogue and negotiations and the process to mend the relations. To this end, the U.S. worked hard to boost the U.S.-Japan-south Korea triangular military alliance and create environment favorable for laying a siege to Northeast Asia, etc. in a bid to meet its interests. The U.S. would be well advised to reexamine its hostile policy toward the DPRK and make a U-turn towards dialogue and fence mending. It is the basic policy for ensuring peace to reject the imperialists' high-handed and arbitrary practices and foil their policy of strength. The U.S. imperialists' pursuance of their policy of strength did not lead to the outbreak of the second Korean war because the DPRK has steadily implemented the Songun line. It is the desire and goal of the DPRK to ensure durable peace. The Korean people will continue waging a dynamic struggle to prevent a war and preserve peace under the banner of independence, peace and friendship. |
