The statement recalled that in the joint statement the government, political parties and organizations of the DPRK proposed having wide-ranging dialogue and negotiations with political parties and organizations of south Korea including its authorities.

Urging south Korea to accept the proposal, the statement expressed belief that lasting peace would settle on the Korean Peninsula so that urgent tasks for achieving the wellbeing of the Korean people might be carried out.
