The proposal of the DPRK is another important initiative for averting the danger of a war on the Korean Peninsula and realizing the ardent desire of the Korean people for reunification, the statement said.

The history proved that confrontation would only spark armed conflict and war, far from solving the issue of the north-south relations, it said.

It also showed that if a war breaks out on the peninsula the Korean nation will suffer while foreign forces fish in troubled waters, it added.

It demanded the south Korean authorities accept the proposal of the DPRK without delay.
