Sports Contest of Officials Opened

| Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- The 16th sports contest of officials of national institutions for Paektusan Prize opened in the DPRK with due ceremony at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium on Monday. It is to celebrate February 16, the birthday of General Secretary Kim Jong Il. The contest consists of eleven events including basketball, volleyball, table tennis, Taekwon-Do, shooting, collective running and seesaw. Present at the ceremony were Vice-Premier Kang Nung Su, Ri Yong Su, department director of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, officials of ministries, national institutions and other organs concerned, players and working people in the city of Pyongyang. Hyon Sang Ju, chairman of the C.C., the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, made an opening address there. |
