At an awarding ceremony the title of candidate academician was conferred on Pak Hong Gyu, a researcher of Kim Il Sung University, Jong Kyong Se, head of a department of Pyongyang University of Medicine of Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chang Won, a teacher of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Jon Kuk Bu, a researcher of the State Academy of Sciences, and Ri Yong Hwan, a researcher of the Academy of Social Sciences.

Professorship went to Pak Yong Ju, room chief of Pyongyang University of Medicine of Kim Il Sung University, and Choe Jae Gum, head of a department of Hamhung University of Chemical Engineering.

Kim Yong Su, a former unconverted long-term prisoner, Kim Won Man, room chief of Kim Chaek University of Technology, and others won doctorate.

49 intellectuals were honored with associate professorship.
