Informed of the guerillas' arrival at Shandongtun from East Manchuria, the Japanese imperialists sent there a hundreds-strong cavalry made up of the puppet Manchukuo army and the police.

President Kim Il Sung mapped out a plan to smash the enemies in coordinated operation with the armed units staying in that area as there were not enough guerilla forces to fight a battle at that time.

The commanding officers of those units suggested to the President that they rely on firm castle and village in Shandongtun given the short time for the preparation for the battle.

"That would be of advantage to us but may do harm to the life and property of the people," he said. He proposed advancing units to the ravine west of the village and beating back the enemies there.

The enemies attempted a wave of attacks but fled the battle in the end, leaving a number of bodies by a volley of fire and mortar shell bombing by the guerillas.

When the units entered the village after the battle, people were unanimous in saying that the army of the President is the genuine people's army, moved to tears at his popular traits.
