It is one of eight beauty spots in Korea. Its area is 1,770 square kilometers and its average height is 1 490 meters.

It is surrounded by mountains about 2,000 meters above the sea.

The plateau abundant in forest resources has lush foliage of larch, spruce, Abies nephrolepis and other trees. Wild fruits and edible and medical herbs also grow there.

The forest is home to many species of animals including bear, wild boar, roe deer and otter.

From the plateau one can view the sea of forest, beautiful valleys, large man-made Lake Pujon and sunrise in the East Sea of Korea.

The plateau, a vacation spot, is resorted by lots of people every season.
