US Sparks Cold War and Arms Race--Rodong Sinmun
Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- The United States is chief culprit sparking another Cold War and a new arms race, says Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a bylined article.

The U.S. warlike forces put spurs to the modernization of military hardware, while massively expanding armaments, defying the desire of mankind for peace, the article says, and goes on:

U.S. Congress recently adopted a bill on defense authority for fiscal 2011. The defence budget for fiscal 2011 that began from October 1, 2010 totals 725 billion dollars, of which 158.7 billion dollars is allocated for war expenditure. This makes again the U.S. the country with the biggest military expenditure in the world.

Its military expenditure has shown 15 percent of annual average increase in the new century.

The establishment of the missile defence system is one on which the U.S. puts main emphasis in the expansion of armaments.

It is stepping up MD with preemptive missile attack as an important element of its military strategy in the new century.

It has buckled down to the production of new type smaller nuclear weapons.

The U.S. nuclear war maniacs attempt to make nuclear weapons which can be used as conventional weapons at warfare.

The U.S. true nature as arch criminal of the world-wide arms race is also revealed by its persistent nose-thumbing at the efforts of the international community for arms control.

The U.S. has topped the world list of munitions sales after the demise of the Cold War. In recent years its munitions export has held half of the world total munitions export. It has become No. 1 arms supplier to dispute-torn and armed clashes-stricken regions.

It does not hesitate to plunge mankind into the crucible of a war in a bid to realize its ambition to dominate the world.
