The site had only over 10 noted places before.

The newly discovered spots include Kuryong Valley, Rojok Rock and 18 others in Kuryong Waterfall Valley as well as Pidan Waterfall, Brother and Sister Waterfall, Brothers Waterfall and 7 others in Kumgang Waterfall Valley. Other scenic spots were found in Okryu-dong, Okryu Great Valley, Tanphung Valley, Tohwa-dong and in the area of Chongsokjong by the Nam River.

Sinphyonggumgang scenic site (Tohwa-dong, Phyonghwa-ri in Sinphyong County) is so beautiful that it can be called a miniature of Mt. Kumgang.

Its beauty has been known since late in the 1970s and it turned into scenic spot in the 1990s.
