S. Korea's Anti-DPRK Smear Campaign Slashed--Minju Joson

Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- Officials of the south Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade asked U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Steinberg for reference of the DPRK's uranium enrichment to the UNSC recently when he visited south Korea. The Human Rights Committee of south Korea called for "intensified international cooperation" over "the north's human rights issue" in its "2011 action program". Commenting on the facts, a news analyst of DPRK's major newspaper Minju Joson Thursday says: Such actions can never be pardoned as they are a treacherous crime of denying inter-Korean dialogue and escalating confrontation. Uranium enrichment by the DPRK is for peaceful use of nuclear energy, and it is the legitimate right of a sovereign state nobody can call into question. It is the ulterior intention of officials of the south Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade to tighten anti-DPRK cooperation with the U.S. over the uranium enrichment issue and thus lay an obstacle to the inter-Korean dialogue on the agenda, put the brake on the denuclearization of the whole Korean Peninsula and persistently escalate the confrontation with fellow countrymen. The south Korean Human Rights Committee, too, seeks a way out of crisis in expanding the anti-DPRK smear campaign over the human rights issue to international arena. This scheme has been evidently proved by such phrase as "intensified international cooperation" the committee stipulated in its "action program" for this year. Herein lies the sinister intention to intensify the anti-DPRK human rights racket in collusion with foreign forces and thus deteriorate the north-south relations and hinder their wide-ranging dialogue. The south Korean authorities should take relevant steps to prevent such anachronistic anti-DPRK smear campaign at once, mindful that all Koreans and the whole world are closely watching them. |
