S. Korea Accused of Killing Military Talks

Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- After the north side's delegation published a communique concerning the failed high-level military talks between the two parts of Korea, people of the DPRK have strongly denounced the south Korean authorities for having brought the talks to breakdown. An explainer of the National House of Class Education, Kim Son Hui, 35, told KCNA that the south Korean side has persistently pursued confrontation with the north, impeding the effort for peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and the improvement of north-south relations. "The talks broke down because the south side insisted that a vice defense minister is not a high-level person in military authority in south Korea and that the opening of preliminary talks should be put off for the lunar New Year's Day celebration," she said. Worker of the Pyongyang Daily Necessities Factory Ri Kwang Su, 31, said that the resumption of the north-south dialogue is mainly aimed to clear up the main cause of deteriorated relations between the north and the south and discuss measures for their improvement. But the south Korean authorities are sticking to their unreasonable demand for "responsible measures over the sinking of the Cheonan vessel and the Yonphyong Island shelling" and for a "promise to prevent additional provocations," he said. Their position indicates that they are not interested in dialogue and improvement of relations with the north. |
