S. Korean Authorities' Suppression of Reunification Movement under Fire

Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- The Civic and Public Joint Measure Committee for Coping with Suppression of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification (Pomminryon) in south Korea held a press conference on February 8 to condemn the authorities for suppression of the reunification movement.

In a press release the organization accused the prosecution of making investigation into Ri Kyu Jae, chairman of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon, Ri Kyong Won, its secretary general, and Choe Un A, its agitation chairperson, from Feb. 8.

It denounced the authorities for turning away from the people's anxiety and sufferings, persisting in confrontation with fellow countrymen and clamping down on the reunification movement forces, while rejecting the north's proposal for dialogue.

It demanded the authorities immediately stop the suppression unsuitable to an atmosphere of dialogue.
