Kim Jong Il formulated as the three charters for national reunification the three principles of national reunification, the 10-point programme for great national unity and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo, advanced by President Kim Il Sung.

His five-point policy for great national unity serves as an immortal reunification programme as it indicates the correct way for developing the cause of great national unity, started and led by the President, on to a new higher stage.

The idea of "By our nation itself" advanced by him still remains the brilliant banner of victory in the June 15 era of reunification.

His ardent patriotism and great benevolence have served as mental nutrient encouraging all Koreans to turn out in the patriotic road of reunification.

It is quite natural that the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad are now holding him in high esteem as the centre of great national unity while lauding his politics for national reunification as benevolent and all-embracing politics.

He brings about radical turn in the cause of national reunification despite manifold hardships, taking the initiative at all times over the situation with his adroit and consummate strategy and tested leadership art. Under his distinguished and tested leadership the Korean nation could emerge victorious in the movement for national reunification in the past decades.
