It denounced the city authorities for filing a damage suit against those who took part in the candlelight actions. Damages they claim run to the tune of hundreds of million wons.

This is a violation of elementary freedom and rights of the people and wicked retaliation against the participants of the actions, it said, adding:

Not content with the police reckless suppression of them, the city authorities seek to impose heavy economic burden on them in a bid to calm down anti-"government" feelings.

It urged the authorities to immediately cancel the unreasonable suit.
