Koreans Inspired by Songs Reflecting Their Desire for Reunification

Pyongyang, February 21 (KCNA) -- Songs reflecting the Koreans' desire for reunification are popular in the DPRK. A lot of songs of the theme of national reunification have been created over the past more than half century of Korea's division. "March for National Reunification", "River Rimjin" and other songs created in the 1950s reflect the will of the Koreans to drive foreign forces out of south Korea and achieve the independent reunification of the country. "Train for Reunification Runs" is one of the songs created in the 1960s. It gives momentum to the Koreans' desire for reunification, "Korea Is One" and "We Will Live Together with Our Fellow Countrymen" and other songs were produced in the 1970s and the 1980s. The 1990s also witnessed the creation of many songs putting spurs to the Koreans' patriotic movement for reunification. Among them were "Double Swing for Reunification", "Rainbow for National Reunification", "Arirang of Reunification", "Ojak Bridge of Reunification", "Waltz for Reunification", "Song of Great Unity of Nation" and "Waltz for Great Unity of Nation." "Brilliant Commander of Mt. Paektu Overlooks Land of Three Thousand-ri", "June 15 for Reunification", "We Are One" and other songs produced in the 2000s encourage the Korean people in their struggle for achieving the independent and peaceful reunification of the country by their concerted efforts. |
