They included the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration, the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification and the Confederation of Trade Unions.

They, in a written protest, accuse the U.S. and the present "government" of planning to stage Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises from the end of February.

The U.S. and south Korean authorities claim that the projected maneuvers are annual and ordinary ones for defense in a bid to mislead public opinion, while the Defense Ministry says that the involvement of huge U.S. reinforcements in the maneuvers is necessary for the conquer of the north, it says.

It holds that the soon-to-be-held joint exercises are just war exercises against the north in view of the purpose, nature, scale and the equipment to be involved in them, demanding that the U.S. and authorities stop at once the war gamble on the Korean Peninsula.

The organisations handed the written protest to the U.S. embassy.
