Officials in Field of Land Management and Environment and Relevant Fields Meet

Pyongyang, February 25 (KCNA) -- Officials in the field of the protection of land and environment and relevant fields met at the People's Palace of Culture Friday. Attending it were Choe Yong Rim, Jon Pyong Ho, Kim Ki Nam, Mun Kyong Dok, officials of working people's organizations, ministries, national institutions and party and power organs in the provinces, cities and counties and those in the field of the protection of land and environment and relevant fields. The meeting reviewed the successes and experience gained in land management last year. It discussed the issue of making bigger successes this year, the 15th anniversary of the start of the general mobilization for land management. Vice-premier Jon Ha Chol made a report to be followed by speeches. The reporter and speakers referred to the many changes that took place in the general mobilization for land management last year under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il. Officials and workers in the forestry field turned a national tree nursery of the Ministry of Land and Environmental Conservation into a big saplings production center and stepped up the building of tree nurseries in various provinces. They also put the production of tree saplings on a scientific, industrial and intensive basis, opening up a bright prospect for turning the whole country into a thick woodland and greenery. Hundreds of kilometers of roads were paved and many bridges built and successful progress was made in the improvement of rivers and streams. A great many new dwelling houses were built and progress was made in the preservation of historic sites, scenic spots and national treasures. Officials and workers of all the provinces worked hard to turn their residential areas into socialist cities and villages of bliss. They called for dynamically waging the work to radically change the appearance of the country in all fields and at all units and thus make a contribution to improving the standard of people's living and building a thriving nation. |
