Rodong Sinmun Saturday says this in a bylined article.

The article praises Kim Jong Il as the peerlessly great man who, with the will to build a reunified, strong and prosperous country in Korea true to the behests of President Kim Il Sung, is wisely leading the struggle to this end.

It further says:

He is the great sun of the Korean nation clearly indicating the way for national independence and reunification with his unique ideo-theoretical wisdom. He is also the lodestar of the nation as he steers the cause of national reunification to shining victory with his rare and seasoned leadership.

He formulated the reunification programmes associated with the lofty intention of the President as the three charters for national reunification. This was a vivid expression of his iron faith and will to carry out the cause of national reunification on the basis of the line and policies set forth by the President no matter how the situation and circumstances may change.

He also advanced the five-point policy for great national unity. This is distinguished feat as it laid an ideo-theoretical basis for developing on a new higher stage the Koreans' struggle to implement the President's idea and line of great national unity.

Peace has been kept on the Korean Peninsula and the Koreans' desire for reunification is growing stronger despite the vicious moves for confrontation and war on the part of the separatist forces. This would have been unthinkable without the prominent leadership of Kim Jong Il over national reunification.

All the Koreans absolutely trust and follow him opening up an epochal turn in national reunification with his great idea and distinguished leadership.
