Newspapers Observe Tree-planting Day
Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- Major newspapers Wednesday editorially observe the tree-planting day.

President Kim Il Sung climbed the Moran Hill together with General Secretary Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war hero, on March 2, 1946 to unroll a grand plan for turning the country into a picturesque land of bliss. The precious instruction given by the President on the significant day marked a historic occasion of providing a curtain-raiser to the tree-planting campaign in the country.

It is the unanimous desire and will of the Korean people to turn the whole country into a thick woodland and greenery so as to build the mountains and rivers of the country into a socialist fairyland true to the will and desire of the three commanders of Mt. Paektu, says Rodong Sinmun.

It goes on:

Afforestation is a noble patriotic one for the people's happiness and the country's prosperity and a nature-harnessing project of lasting value.

A project to turn the whole country into a thick woodland and greenery is making dynamic progress thanks to the endless forced march made by Kim Jong Il for field guidance. He clarified the importance of afforestation and indicated the orientation and ways for carrying out them, wisely steering the work.

Minju Joson calls upon all the officials and other working people to turn out as one in the drive for spring tree planting so as to make a positive contribution to eternally glorifying the immortal feats performed by the three commanders of Mt. Paektu in the field of land management and converting the country into a socialist fairyland.
