Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- Many people, including schoolchildren, have planted a large number of trees throughout the DPRK on Wednesday, the tree-planting day. Youth and students of Pyongyang have planted trees at the Pothonggang Revolutionary Site. President Kim Il Sung initiated the Pothong river improvement project and broke ground first to signal the start of the project at the site in May Juche 35 (1946) a year after the country's liberation from the Japanese colonial rule. After planting, they supported saplings with props. Han Mo Ran, 16, a student of Pyongyang Jonsung Secondary School, told KCNA, "I want to plant many trees to make my hometown, Pyongyang, more beautiful." They planted thousands of trees at the site. |
