Rodong Sinmun Accuses S. Korea of Bringing N-S Relations Catastrophe
|

Pyongyang, March 3 (KCNA) -- The south Korean conservative forces' seizure of power was a start of the acts going against history as it brought the June 15 era of reunification back to the era of confrontation and escalated confrontation and tension between the north and the south, says Rodong Sinmun, a major newspaper of the DPRK, Thursday in a bylined article. The south Korean ruling conservative forces pushed to total bankruptcy the north-south relations which made a dynamic advance, causing them to go back to the era of distrust and confrontation more than 10 years ago, the article says, terming these acts unpardonable treachery and anti-reunification acts. It goes on: The south Korean authorities made desperate efforts to scrap the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, the guiding principle for improving the north-south relations, denying them. They stood against inter-Korean dialogue and cooperation and scuttled them. The south Korean ruling forces have desperately sought military confrontation and a war of aggression against the DPRK, not detente between the north and the south. The past three years in south Korea witnessed unceasing military provocations escalating tension and increasing the danger of war. What merits the most serious attention is that the south Korean puppet warmongers fabricated the most hideous "Cheonan" case, an unprecedented anti-DPRK farce, in March last year to slander the DPRK and find an excuse for igniting a war against it. It was followed by the Yonphyong Island shelling incident, another dangerous military provocation against the DPRK, in November. With these two incidents as a momentum, the south Korean warmongers went to the extremes in their moves to do harm to the DPRK and ignite a new war against it and the situation in Korea was so tense that a war might break out at any moment. Their true colors as warmongers found a vivid expression in their madcap war moves against the DPRK. The north-south relations on which the destiny of the nation and the future of reunification hinge can never be reduced to a plaything of the south Korean ruling forces pursuing a policy of confrontation with the DPRK. They are bound to be judged for having pushed the north-south relations to catastrophe. |
