Practical Actions for Improved North-South Relations Urged
|

Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- The south Korean newspaper Hangyore in an editorial on Wednesday demanded that the present "government" take practical actions for improving the north-south relations. The editorial recalled the words said by the chief executive in his "address at the meeting commemorating the March First Popular Uprising" that "he was ready to have open-hearted dialogue with the north anytime." His word "open-heartedness" is still attached with such conditions as "the north's submission" and "denuclearization first," the editorial said, adding: He said that "he would positively build up forces for unification". These words, too, have a thread of connection with the "theory of the north's collapse" touted by high-ranking officials of the "government". This conception makes it hard to build a driving force for south-north dialogue. It is reasonable to stop the controversial anti-north psychological offensive of the military. The "government" has shown so far an attitude to move only after the north has complied with all its demands. No matter how often he talks about "open-heartedness," this attitude of his will get him nowhere. The editorial urged the "government" to make a switchover in its policy toward the north by taking practical actions first as quickly as possible. |
