Chinese Paper Deems Reintroduction of Nuclear Weapons as Dangerous
Beijing, March 2 (KCNA) -- The United States and south Korea are recently spreading the rumors that they are seeking to re-introduce tactical nuclear weapons into south Korea in a bid to pressurize the DPRK to halt its nuclear activities with "nuke-to-nuke" and that they are also considering the issue of making China "really move" as regards the issue of sanctions against the DPRK. This is as dangerous an intention as a gambling. This is not only straining the situation on the Korean Peninsula but pressing south Korea itself.

The Chinese paper Hun Qiu Shibao on Tuesday said this in its commentary titled "Dangerous Is the Intention to re-introduce Nuclear Weapons into South Korea." It went on:

The U.S. re-introduction of tactical nuclear weapons into the Korean Peninsula would give a great shock to Northeast Asia and create a more serious situation. If that happens, the U.S. and south Korea cannot rest assured that China will impose sanctions against the DPRK as intended by them.

The U.S. re-introduction of tactical nuclear weapons into south Korea would seriously upset the existing strategic balance in Northeast Asia, encouraging China to produce much more nuclear weapons and deploy them and develop more advanced nuclear delivery means so as to guarantee its strategic security.

Deploying again those nuclear weapons close to China would be regarded as disrespect for Chinese strategic interests, compelling China to express its anxiety.

As south Korea is situated in Northeast Asia where the strategic interests of big powers are complicatedly intertwined, it would be well advised to behave properly so that it may not be implicated in their dispute, it warned.
