The statement strongly denounced the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean authorities for staging the military drills with hundreds of thousands of troops, a U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier and other war equipment involved.

The exercises are a blatant challenge to the DPRK which proposed resuming dialogue and negotiations, the statement said, stressing: They are also dangerous war maneuvers to escalate confrontation between the north and the south and plunge the Korean Peninsula into a nuclear war at any cost.

The U.S. and south Korea hold the DPRK-targeted war maneuvers regularly to stifle the DPRK by force and render the situation of the peninsula tense, but the entire Korean nation is desirous of the inter-Korean reconciliation and unity, the statement added.

It urged the U.S. and the south Korean bellicose forces to stop at once the military drills aimed at provoking a nuclear war and come out for dialogue and negotiations for peace and reunification in the peninsula.
