Rodong Sinmun Terms Joint Military Exercises Harassing Dialogue and Peace

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities kicked off the joint military exercises, Key Resolve and Foal Eagle, together with the U.S. This is a grave provocation spoiling the atmosphere of dialogue and improved north-south relations. Rodong Sinmun says this in a bylined article Monday. The U.S. and the south Korean war-like forces are describing the saber-rattling as one for "preventing provocations" and "defending themselves" but it is shameless sophism to conceal their true colors as aggressors, the article notes, and goes on: Key Resolve and Foal Eagle are entirely aimed at invading the DPRK in light of their nature and contents. What merits a serious attention is that the drills are being staged at a time when the situation on the Korean Peninsula is at the crossroads of dialogue and confrontation. What the U.S. is after is to realize its ambition for dominating the DPRK, not peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula. In order to put into practice this criminal goal, the U.S. is set not to rule out even a nuclear war against the Korean nation. The south Korean ruling quarters, however, are staging war maneuvers against fellow countrymen in collusion with the U.S. according to their vicious scenarios to realize the ambition to invade the north at any cost, clean indifferent to the destiny of the nation. The war maneuvers in south Korea will make it impossible to preserve peace on the Korean Peninsula and achieve its peaceful reunification. The historic lesson teaches that the war maneuvers against the other party will bring distrust, confrontation, increased tensions and military clashes, which will lead to a war disaster in the long run. |
