Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- Kim Sung Hui is a renowned artist of the DPRK. Born in Tokyo as the sixth of the eight brothers and sisters, she dreamed of becoming an artist in her childhood. After returning home, she was honored with the audience of President Kim Il Sung. At that time the President wished that she would become an excellent artist as she desired. Since then, she has enjoyed a worthwhile life as an artist. She created more than 90 pictures of the three commanders of Mt. Paektu -- President Kim Il Sung, General Secretary Kim Jong Il and anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk -- and 600 landscape pieces. Her Korean painting "Pongsan Masked Dance" won a gold prize at the 9th Beijing International Art Expositions held in Juche 95 (2006). Oil painting "At Crossroads" and many other works created by her were registered as national treasures. When leader Kim Jong Il visited the Mansudae Art Studio in last January, she was lucky to meet with him. She, 73, is still active in creating art pieces. |
