Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- Sixty-five years has elapsed since the first stamp was issued in the DPRK after the country's liberation from the Japanese colonial rule. The first stamp "Samsonam" was brought out on March 12, Juche 35 (1946) to be followed by many stamps. They show revolutionary activities and noble traits of the three commanders of Mt. Paektu -- President Kim Il Sung, General Secretary Kim Jong Il and anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk -- and reflect achievements made by the Korean people in political, military, economic, cultural and all other fields of social life. Korean stamps are seen in more than 100 countries. The State Stamp Bureau issues stamps of diverse themes. Stamps, postcards and calendars published by the bureau are popular among foreigners and overseas Koreans, too. Some of the stamps won top prizes at world-famous stamp expositions. |
