He said some economists have estimated that if one added up all the airport taxes in some cases it almost amounts to 50 percent of the entire cost of an airline ticket. "Someone must take a stand and put pressure on these governments to consider their stance," he said.

Initially European countries had said the taxes were for green gas emission and pollution, but the money directly goes back to European budgets to deal with their budget deficits, he said.
