Joint Military Exercises Rebuffed by Ecuadorian Organization

Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- The Ecuador-Guaranda Institute for Friendship and Cultural Solidarity with the Korean People released a statement on Mar. 9 denouncing the U.S.-south Korea joint military exercises. It urged the UN, the U.S., Japan and the south Korean authorities to halt the military exercises, not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries and denuclearize the Korean Peninsula and the rest of the world.

The joint military exercises will escalate the tension and danger of war in the Korean Peninsula and bring irrevocable consequences to the world, it noted.

All the forces desirous of peace demand the south Korean authorities stop at once the provocative military exercises and opt for peace of the peninsula and the independent reunification of Korea, it stressed.

It also demanded the U.S. withdraw its forces from south Korea at once and replace the Armistice Agreement signed in 1953 with a peace treaty.
