Spring Tree Planting

Pyongyang, March 17 (KCNA) -- Spring tree planting is at full swing in the DPRK. Recently, officials of the Cabinet, ministries and national institutions transplanted many trees of good species around the Kumsusan Memorial Palace. Roadside trees have been replaced with a new species of willow in Pyongyang. Such trees as Larix leptolepis, Evodia daniellii and bamboo have been planted in South Hwanghae Province in a scientific way to increase the rate of rooting. People in Wonsan City, Kangwon Province have planted 42,500 trees, including Pyongyang poplar, in the Songdowon Recreation Ground and some other areas of the city. Those in Kanggye City, Jagang Province have planted hundreds of trees in revolutionary sites and in the centre of the city. Fruit farms plan to plant millions of fruit trees in spring. Streets, villages and parks throughout the country have been embellished with trees and flowers of good species. Saplings are supplied by forest management stations. |
