The statement said that the joint military exercises being staged by the U.S. and south Korea are a blatant challenge to the aspiration and wishes of the Korean people for the independent reunification and peace of the country and the moves against DPRK to ignite a new war on the Korean Peninsula.

The DPRK has demonstrated its might as a political, ideological and military power and Korean-style socialism been reliably defended thanks to the Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il, it noted.

The organization urged the U.S. and the south Korean authorities to stop at once the joint military exercises and opt for detente on the peninsula.
